Park County Democratic Party Platform
2026
Preamble
Park County Wyoming Democrats value democracy, justice, humanity, facts, compassion, freedom, and human dignity. We advocate for laws and policies that defend the rights of all individuals without exception, preserve our environment, and honor the individual rights and institutional roles stated in the United States Constitution.
Civil Rights
All individuals regardless of citizenship, race, gender, language, national origin, ethnicity, religious preference, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or political beliefs, shall enjoy the inalienable rights of liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness. This includes marriage equality, freedom from racial/ethnic and sexual/gender discrimination, the right to collective bargaining, equal pay for equal work, gun regulation, access to necessary healthcare including abortion, no death penalty, and equal treatment under the law.
Good Government Practices
Good government is transparent, accountable, and prioritizes serving the people and not individual, private interests. This includes open meetings, separation of church and state, checks and balances by the three distinct branches of government, financial disclosure by elected officials, science-based policies, fact-based national historical records, and comprehensive public services including fully funded education, law enforcement, welfare, social security, Medicare and veterans’ benefits.
Economy
Our economy can serve everyone if it is stable, diverse, taxed fairly, supports workers, and promotes a sustainable future.
Education
We support investing in public education, from early childhood into adulthood at no or minimal cost to individuals enrolled in public education. We support professional standards for teachers and curriculum. Private education shall not receive tax monies and shall meet the same standards as public institutions.
Health Care
Access to health care is humane and necessary for a well-functioning community. Health care includes mental health and physical health services. Public health policy shall be developed through a transparent process, based on current, peer-reviewed science.
Voting and Elections
Our representative democracy requires free, fair, and open elections. Voting barriers should be eliminated for eligible citizens. This includes same-day registration, absentee voting, non-partisan legislative districting process, restoration of rights for ex-convicts, full campaign finance transparency, and electronic vote counting.
Public Lands
Public lands belong to the people, and shall remain so with easement access. We support science-based, responsible stewardship with public input and transparent management.
Conservation
We support the health and well-being of the land, plants, animals, air and water for the benefit of present and future generations, including the use of renewable energy sources. We acknowledge that human-caused climate change impacts the environment and we support efforts to minimize its effects.
